The Green Bay Duck Hunters Association will meet on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve.
There will be a special event before the meeting starting at 5:00 p.m.
GBDHA member Mike Pierce will give a presentation on decoy carving in light of the upcoming carved decoy contest, which is in conjunction with the Federal Duck Stamp Contest being held in Stevens Point this September.
The decoy carving demonstration will start at 5:00 p.m. and lead up to the start of the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Mike will demonstrate decoy carving with hand tools (hatchets and drawknives) and in addition, a skill from the Maryland Bay men, chopping decoys with a hatchet.
Mike’s carved decoys are always a hit at the Roadkill banquet. This will be a very interesting presentation, get there early for a “good seat”.
Planning for the 2017 Local Canadian Goose Banding will be the topic of the meeting. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources banding project will take place between June 26 – 28, 2017 in Brown, Kewaunee and Outagamie Counties.
The GBDHA members have done a great job in the past of scouting for banding locations and getting land owners permission to access the geese. Please send locations to Dave Swanson at email@example.com.
As always, snacks and refreshments will be available.
Guests or new members always welcome.
See you there!
Roger Hanson, President
Green Bay Duck Hunters Association
